Why Wear a Rib Protector Vest in Karting?

The rib protector vestis designed to provide additional protection for the chest and ribs. It also enhances the driver’s comfort by reducing discomfort caused by pressure from the seat.

For use in competition, please also check the requirements of the applicable regulations: some events require FIA 8870-2018-certified protection.

How to Choose a Rib Protector Suited to Your Sport?

Choose your rib protectorbased on your sport, body type, and desired level of comfort. Opt for a model that fits well and allows for good freedom of movement, taking into account its design, weight, and adjustability.

Once seated, the rib protector should remain properly positioned and comfortable with your wetsuit when you’re seated in your seat.

How do you choose the right size rib protector for a child?

Refer to the manufacturer’s size guide and the young rider’s measurements, particularly their chest circumference when this measurement is specified.

The rib protector must remain properly positioned around the chest without beingbe too tight or restrict the rider’s movements. Avoid intentionally choosing a size that’s too large to accommodate future growth: a proper fit is crucial for this type of protection.

How much should you budget for a karting rib protector?

The price varies depending on the brand, design, materials, and features of the model. First, determine the type of protection best suited to your needs before comparing the different models and their prices.

If your competition requires specific certification, verify this requirement before making a purchase.
